Film craft.AI speed.Human taste.

The people

Craft-led,
not tool-led.

The studio is deliberately small at the centre: senior creative judgement, direct production ownership, and specialists who know how images behave on set and inside model-driven workflows.

Mike Staniforth

Cofounder / Chief AI

Mike Staniforth

Mike leads the studio's AI strategy and creative systems. His cinematography background keeps the work grounded in composition, lens logic, lighting taste, and the practical realities of production, so model-driven images still feel directed, intentional, and usable.

Henk Pretorius

Cofounder / Managing Director

Henk Pretorius

Henk leads the commercial and operational direction of Vertical Haus. As a filmmaker with director, writer, and producer credits, he keeps the company focused on story, audience, client outcomes, and turning ambitious ideas into deliverable productions.

Gabriele Stifani

Cinematographer / AI Prompt Engineer

Gabriele Stifani

Gabriele connects camera craft with prompt craft. His cinematography and camera department background gives the studio another layer of visual literacy when designing prompts, testing model behaviour, and refining shots until they feel directed rather than generated.

Chris Ridgway

Social Media Consultant

Chris Ridgway

Chris brings platform-native social strategy from sports media and boxing. His experience spans event, broadcast, edit, and channel management for major fight properties, plus building IntuBoxing into a high-engagement boxing community across Facebook and X.

How we work

We treat AI like a production department.

The output is not "AI content" for its own sake. It is a shot, a campaign asset, a test film, a vertical episode, or a production problem solved with taste and control. That means references, constraints, review loops, and a clear owner for every creative decision.

Principles

  • 1Film grammar first. Prompts follow lensing, blocking, lighting, and edit rhythm.
  • 2Speed with standards. Faster only matters if the work still feels premium.
  • 3Transparent workflows. Clients should understand the stack, risks, and review gates.
  • 4Distribution aware. A beautiful shot still needs to land in-feed, in-pitch, or in the cut.

Next step

Bring us a hard creative problem.

Commercial timeline too tight, missing a shot, testing an AI film concept, or building a repeatable generative video workflow? That is where Vertical Haus fits best.
